Parolee arrested for attacking a woman in motel room
A parolee was arrested early Monday after police said he attacked a woman inside a Redding motel room. The suspect is 61-year-old Timothy Pudwell, who police said is on parole for assault with a deadly weapon. The incident was reported at 12:18 a. m. Monday at the Deluxe Inn on Market Street in Redding. A woman told officers Pudwell had tried to stab her, then took her phone when she tried to call 911. The victim said Pudwell then punched and kicked her in the head.
Planned PG&E outage near Shasta Lake
PG&E said there will be an outage in the Shasta Lake area on Monday, October 22. They said 75 customers would be affected between 8:30 a. m. and 2 p. m. in the areas of Juniper Drive, Snowdrop Avenue and Silverthorn Road. This is north of Mountain Gate, near the Pit River Arm of Shasta Lake. PG&E said this is planned work for crews to upgrade an electric system in the area.
Vegetation fire contained in North Redding
Update as of 6:04 p. m. Redding Fire has confirmed that the fire has been contained. The fire has burned about one acre. Shasta tops Enterprise to capture 4th straight River Bowl
For the fourth consecutive year Shasta (3-5) beat Enterprise (1-7) in the annual River Bowl, 47-10. Pleasant Valley(7-2) tuned up for its annual Almond Bowl showdown next Friday night with Chico (7-1) by beating Foothill (4-4), 34-7. Chico had a bye. In other action West Valley (7-1) captured its sixth consecutive win of the season with a 57-14 win at Corning (3-6) And Anderson (5-3) walloped Central Valley (2-6), 40-7.
Powellton Fire: 100 percent contained
Update as of 11:08 a. m. Friday, October 19. The Powellton Fire has been declared 100 percent contained, according to a tweet by Cal Fire Butte County. The fire has burned 10 acres. Update as of 10:38 a. m. Tuesday, October 16. According to Cal Fire, the Powellton Fire is now 55 percent contained and has burned 3 acres. City of Shasta Lake house fire causes around $100,000 in damages
A house fire in the 17000 block of Pine Avenue in Summit City caused around $100,000 in damages Friday morning. According to the Shasta Lake Fire Protection District, the fire, which was reported around 7:30 a. m. , was contained to the one home. Officials said the home was not destroyed but suffered significant damage. Cal Fire said the fire started as a small spot fire that spread to the home.
